The beginning...
Tomas Anpres Tomason, or Tommi as he is better known, started out in the burger business by opening Tomma-Burger in Iceland in 1981. The first place opened at Grensasvegur and soon there were five more please all over the country.
Tommi has done different things as well, he opened the restaurant Potturinn og Pannan (the pot and pan) in 82' and a club called Villti Tryllti Villi in 82'. The club was well attended by teenagers at first, but no alcohol was served, it soon changed to a club called Safari. There was alcohol!
In 83' Tommi decided to sell all of his business, at that he had sold over one million hamburgers!! After selling everything Tommi went to Los Angeles for a year to look around and relax a bit. There he met Isaac B. Tigrett, the owner of Hard Rock Café in London and New York. They decided to open a Hard Rock Café in Reykyavik. That plan became real in 87’.
Three years later Tommi opened the club’s Glaumbar and Amma Lu. Then later came Grillhust and Hotel Borg, with the Shadabar and Kaffibpennslan. Tommi ran the Hard Rock and Hotel Borg for ten years and they were both very successful. Then finally came THE BURGER JOINT!
The first one opened at Geirsgata down town on April 10th 2004. It became popular very fast and soon opened at Bilshefdi Ruk, Hafna Firds and at Ofanleits, which is close to Kringlan. Right now there are six Burger Joint’s open in Iceland. There are three in London, one in Copenhagen, Berlin, Rome, Oslo and now one in OXFORD.
Tommi is not done yet though, he plans on opening more places all over the world so that people everywhere can taste the yummy burgers from Tommi’s Burger Joint!!!

The food at Comptoir is fresh, healthy, honest and affordable. We wake up early to provide customers with unique Lebanese breakfasts to eat in or take away; offering everything from organic yoghurt topped with pomegranate and orange blossom water, porridge and -our favourite- halloumi cheese, crispy onion and tomato tortillas. Visit us for lunch and dinner as we serve our guests all types of interesting and colourful dishes, including hot and cold mezze – perfectly sized for sharing- wraps, salads, tagines, grills and Mana’esh (Lebanese style pizzas). For dessert, nothing is more authentic than the sweet taste of baklawa – Lebanese pastries in a variety of flavours such as date filled semolina and walnut filled flaky pastry.
