Accessibility

Our Guest Experience staff will be available in the centre for anyone with a sunflower lanyard, or those who make themselves known. They will be on hand for anyone with accessibility issues or those who cannot stand for long periods of time or need assistance.

We also offer the below services for any shoppers with disabilities.

 

Services

Services include wheelchair-friendly access to the centre, and wheelchair space in our lifts. Our dedicated toilet facilities also include a Changing Places Facility located on our Roof Terrace.

Local buses and taxis are all accessible for wheelchair users and those with walking impairments. There is also accessible parking access in our car park. Please contact our car park for further assistance: 01865 263 630.

Sensory backpacks

Westgate Oxford offers a warm welcome to all our guests and it’s important to us that everyone can enjoy the shopping, dining and leisure available. For some children and adults, who have hidden disabilities, this can be more challenging. That’s why we’ve introduced three sensory backpacks which are available to hire free of charge from our Guest Services Pod.
These sensory backpacks are particularly suited to our autistic guests and are packed full of items to assist children and adults. They include:

  • HD Lanyard
  • Ear Defenders
  • Sensory Toys

We will be asking users of the sensory backpacks to return them after use to our Guest Services Pod.

Shopmobility

We also offer the below Shopmobility services free of charge to our guests:

  • 10 mobility scooters
  • 4 wheelchairs
  • 1 motorised scooter (left and right)
  • Free service to rent scooters and wheelchairs, which can be collected from the Shopmobility office or dropped off at the Guest Experience Desk
  • The ability to sign up for our free membership
  • The ability to book over the phone, if required
  • 50 accessible parking bays (25 on each level – all directly outside the main lobby areas). Directions can be found on our VMS signs within the car park.

Please note: ID is required (either ID or Disability Pass). Our Shopmobility service is available from 9am to 11pm, seven days a week​. Our scooters are available per day and are for use within the centre, but can also be used in the City Centre within city limits. All electric wheelchairs are only permitted for use within the shopping centre.

Our accessible bays are not free or at a discounted cost.

 

SignLive

SignLive is a Video Relay Service that allows our deaf and hard of hearing guests to connect with an online BSL Interpreter during opening hours. The BSL interpreter will communicate with the member of staff you would like to connect with and sign their responses back to you. You can access this service by scanning our SignLive QR code, which can be found around the centre, or by speaking with a member of our staff. You can also access SignLive via the app or a web browser.
